Silvio Ariotta, born in Tropea (VV) on March 4, 1982, approached music at a very young age, starting with the electric bass. As a teenager, he took part in many concerts performing in various musical genres such as jazz, funk, rock, and pop. He later became interested in the double bass, studying at the “F. Torrefranca” Conservatory in Vibo Valentia under the guidance of Maestro Michele Cosso.

He graduated in Double Bass in 2008. At the same time, he attended several advanced training courses with outstanding classical musicians, including Maestro Matteo Liuzzi (Principal Double Bass of the “La Fenice” Orchestra of Venice), Maestro Libero Lanzillotta (Principal Double Bass of the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia), and Maestro Stefano Sciascia (renowned solo double bassist). During this period, he collaborated with the symphony orchestra of the Vibo Valentia Conservatory, the provincial orchestra “La Grecìa,” and the jazz department of the same Conservatory.

He refined his electric bass skills studying with Maestro Massimo Moriconi (Mina, Concato, Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz) and attending workshops with world-renowned musicians such as Alain Caron, Jeff Berlin, Tom Kennedy, Dave Liebman, Dario Deidda, Alfredo Paixao, Federico Malaman, and Paolo Costa. He has conducted several seminars throughout Italy and participated in internationally acclaimed jazz festivals such as “Lamezia Jazz” (2007), “Paola in Jazz” (2009), “Peperoncino Jazz Festival” (2014 and 2015), “Roccella Jazz Festival” (2015), “Positano Jazz Festival” (2019), and “Giffoni Jazz Festival” (2020). In 2005, he became an Endorser for “Tune” electric basses and took part in the “Disma Music Show” in Rho (MI) as a demonstrator, performing at the “Valmusic” booth alongside Maurizio Rolli and Massimo Moriconi.

In 2014, he obtained his Jazz diploma from the “F. Torrefranca” Conservatory in Vibo Valentia. In 2015, he became an Endorser for “Laurus” electric basses. He has performed with Xantonè Blacq, Ryan Kilgore, Gianfranco Campagnoli, Giovanni Amato, Enrico Granafei, Dado Moroni, Ellade Bandini, Nico Gori, Angelo Adamo, Davide Cantarella, Jerry Popolo, Antonio Onorato, Antonella Ruggiero, Eddy Napoli, Francesca Schiavo, Barbara Cola, Lighea, and Aleandro Baldi.

From 2014 to 2017, he taught Electric Bass at the “F. Torrefranca” Conservatory in Vibo Valentia. He also teaches bass and double bass at the “New Beat” music school in Vibo Valentia (VV) and the “Isound” music school in Rende (CS). In 2020, he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in “Jazz Electric Bass” from the “S. Giacomantonio” Conservatory in Cosenza.
